  • Vitamin D plays an important role in maintaining the organs. Also, promotes reabsorption of calcium in the kidneys, which helps with normal mineralization of the bones.

    Vitamin D is found in foods such as: Egg yolk, Fortified cereals, Fortified milk, Liver, High-fat fish.

  • Vitamin E is a fat soluble vitamin that has antioxidant properties.

    Vitamin E is found in foods such as: Margarine, Nuts and seeds, Peanuts and peanut butter, Vegetable oils, Wheat germ, Whole-grain and fortified cereals.

  • Folate (also, known as vitamin M) is important for the protuction and maintenance of new cells, especially during infancy and pregnancy.

    Folate is found in foods such as: Dark green vegetables, Dry beans, peas, and lentils, Enriched grain products, Fortified cereals, Liver, Orange juice, Wheat germ, Yeast.

  • Vitamin K is needed for the modification of most proteins and required for blood coagulation.

    Vitamin K is found in foods such as: Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, Cabbage, Leafy green vegetables, Mayonnaise, Soybean, canola, and olive oils.

A Fat Soluble vitamin. The body acquires some of its vitamins A and C through animal fats and beta-carotene and other carotenoids abundant in many fruits and vegetables.

  • Taking excessive amounts of vitamin A can cause serious health problems. In terms of vitamin A in foods, the body makes only what it needs from carotene rich fruits and vegetables. However with certain 'preformed' vitamin supplements which have been synthesized, it can be possible to take too much. It is also wise not to take it in supplement form alongside isotretinoin or other acne drugs, which may cause high blood levels of vitamin A and negative side effects.
